Auburn defeated Alabama last season, in what was their second win over a #1-ranked team in three weeks. Auburn lost in the SEC title game to Georgia, and to UCF in the Peach Bowl to end the season.
The season for Alabama ended with an overtime win over Georgia in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Atlanta.
The exact same scenario could play out this season in the SEC… with Auburn winning the western division, and Alabama still having a shot at making the College Football Playoff. While beating Georgia is very important, it will not win you the division. Beating Alabama will. For Auburn to reach their max potentional, they will need to beat Bama in Tuscaloosa.
