8. OLE MISS REBELS

DETAILS: OCTOBER 20 in OXFORD

The Rebels are still suffering from the NCAA hammer drop that was finally released back in December. Ole Miss will have a postgame bowl ban in 2018, a vacation of every game involving ineligible recruits, self-imposed scholarship cuts, and three years probation.

While the sanctions hurt Ole Miss, the one sliver of hope in the Rebel offense has moved on. Shea Patterson, who accounted for 3,139 yards and 23 touchdowns in 10 games over the last two seasons, transferred to Michigan at the conclusion of the 2017 season. Jordan Ta’amu took over for Patterson after he tore his PCL against LSU on October 21, and is expected to be the starter at quarterback for the Rebels. Ta’amu played in eight games, tossing 1,682 yards and 11 touchdowns to just four interceptions. He has the ability to get the offense on track, but it won’t be enough for Ole Miss to pull off an upset.

Matt Luke’s interim tag was also lifted at the end of the season. Now that he has full control, he could also trend his squad upwards, but it will take time.

Prediction: Auburn 49 Ole Miss 17
