Taylor Talkin’ Tigers: Top-5 First Meetings That I Would Love to See
July 5, 2018 By Taylor Jones#1 NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH
WHY HASN’T THIS HAPPENED YET?!?!?!?!?
That’s right, Auburn and Notre Dame have met ZERO times on the football field. Auburn is one of four teams (Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas) from the SEC that have yet to play Notre Dame in football.
The Irish are currently #6 on the all-time wins list with 886, Auburn is #14 with 759. It seems that these two programs would have crossed paths sometime before now, but that has not been the case. Notre Dame currently has future games scheduled with Vanderbilt, Georgia, Arkansas, and Alabama from the SEC.
I know that Notre Dame’s Independent status, as well as their ties with the ACC, could make scheduling a home-and-home series tricky, but I do have hope. Auburn’s new Athletic Director, Allen Greene, is a Notre Dame alum. Could he pull some strings with his Alma Mater in order to make this happen? No offense, but if Notre Dame has time to schedule Vanderbilt this season, do you think they would entertain the notion of scheduling Auburn? I hope so.
In 2017, the “Bulldawg Nation” took over Chicago and South Bend when Georgia visited Notre Dame. I could easily see Auburn fans doing the same thing. If Auburn does get a chance to visit Notre Dame, I will promise Irish fans that there will be SIGNIFICANTLY LESS barking from the Auburn Family. Give us a chance.
