Now with all the offseason talk focused on Alabama and Georgia, it’s hard to believe that it was in fact Auburn who owned the best record in 2017’s head to head battles between the three programs. Not to mention, after analyzing Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia’s four combined games, the Tigers hold the advantage in every major statistical category as well. Of course this isn’t a slight against Alabama, nor Georgia, for both programs deserve the notoriety after the Tide won the natty and the Bulldogs took home the SEC Championship, respectively.

But why are the Tigers being ignored? In 2017, Auburn proved firsthand that they’re every bit as good as both Bama and UGA. Yes, Auburn has to travel to both Tuscaloosa and Athens this season, but my power rankings are based specifically on who I think the best teams in the SEC are, period. Besides, I believe the Tigers have a solid chance at splitting the two away games against their rivals this year, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the 2018 SEC Championship Game features a rematch of 2017’s conference championship.

So without further ado…
